Treating Infertility
Earn up to $36,000 as an Egg Donor
Thank you for your interest in becoming an egg donor. Helping someone make their dream of parenthood into a reality is an extraordinary feeling. Our donors are compensated $5,000 – $6,000 per cycle for their generous gift of life.
Our egg donation success is the star of our program. We are proud to have an egg donor pregnancy rate of over 80 percent. Donated eggs can lead to successful pregnancies for women with premature ovarian failure, women whose own eggs are of poor quality, women in the older reproductive age group (under age 50), and women with chromosomal translocations or genetic diseases that they wish to avoid passing on to their offspring.
Donors may be a family member or friend of the woman desiring a pregnancy or an anonymous volunteer screened by our program.
Donor Qualifications
We encourage healthy women of all ethnic backgrounds between the ages of 18 to 28 to consider participating in our Egg Donation Program. All egg donors are screened before they are accepted into a cycle and the screening process involves the following tests and procedures:
- Donor application
- Medical history and physical examination
- Testing for infectious diseases per U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines
- Screening for inheritable diseases through family health questionnaire
- Psychological assessment through the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory and interview with a psychologist
If you are interested in applying to be one of our egg donors please complete our Egg Donor Application and mail or fax it to us. All applications are confidential.
Waiting time varies for an egg donor to be selected, especially for a fresh cycle because that is dependent on a recipient selecting a donor that suits them.
Advanced Reproductive Center of Hawaii also participates with My Egg Bank, a national egg bank which provides frozen eggs to recipients across the country. Participating in frozen egg donation decreases the wait time for a donor and also allows them to donate on their own schedule. The Egg Donor Process
Once a donor is approved and matched (or approved for a frozen cycle), she will be brought into our center for an in-depth consultation about egg donation and introduced to our Egg Donor Team.
Overall, the egg donor process involves approximately 2 weeks of fertility drugs to stimulate the development of multiple follicles/eggs, just like in an In Vitro Fertilization cycle. While using the drugs, you will have frequent ultrasounds and blood tests so that we can carefully monitor how you are doing. At the same time, the recipient is coordinated with your IVF cycle using estrogen and progesterone to prepare her uterus to receive the embryos.
Removing the eggs from your ovaries involves a minor surgical procedure. After you recover from egg retrieval, you are compensated for your generous gift. Your eggs will then be mixed with sperm from the intended father in our laboratory. If embryos result, they will be grown in a lab dish before one or more are transferred into the uterus of the recipient. If she becomes pregnant and delivers a child, she will be the birth mother and legal mother of that child even though the child will be genetically related to you.
We will bring you into our center for a follow-up exam approximately two weeks later for a final checkup.
Compensation
Donors who complete a donation cycle will receive $5,000 – $6,000 (per cycle), which is paid on the day of the egg retrieval. You may donate more than once.
You will receive a 1099 for all compensation paid to you in a calendar year and you are responsible for the payment of all taxes due.
